LSJTD: Bite Marks (2011)

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Once a month, Kelly dares Jessica to watch a film surrounding the monthly theme. These challenges are meant to scare, or unsettle, Jessica, and broaden her horror horizons.

KELLY:

It's PRIDE MONTH! And because this is a time for celebrating inclusivity and our own sexualities, I thought I would take it easy on Jessica and dare her to watch this random movie I found on Tubi TV, Bite Marks (2011). With the movie tagline of "Wrong on so many levels", this has got to be a wacky ride of queer horror. I haven't watched it, but I will, so stay tuned for TWO responses and reactions! HAPPY PRIDE!

JESSICA:

This movie was something else! I had no idea what I was getting into with this film especially when Kelly mentioned that she hadn't seen it herself. When it first started I got some strong Full Moon/ Empire vibes, but as the movie progressed I started to realize that this was even lower quality and closer to the soft core amateur porn vibes similar to the Witchcraft series that you can find on Tubi. And I am not going to lie....I have seen a few of those (I tend to enjoy having a few drinks and watching these types of train wrecks of films for fun). Sadly, the vampires don't show up until a good portion of the way through it. You are mostly focused on a closested gay trucker named Brewster picking up a queer couple on the side of the road and then to his sexual awakening? To be honest, I was ready to tap out of this movie until I realized that Stephen Geoffreys who played Ed in the 1985 film Fright Night was one of the turned vampires. So I was back in and completed the task at hand! And glad I did because I got to hear the "Your so Cool Brewster" and ***SPOILERS*** watch our queer couple survive!

KELLY:

Well, that was a movie and I am glad it exists! It was better than expected, gay AF, surprisingly meta and funny. What came first: the Geoffreys or the old Fright Night joke!? Highly recommend.
